Motif is a tangible interactive storytelling console that covers a story set in a society deadlocked in originality. Users discover the events that have happened before in a non-linear way from the storage of “Motif Machine” tools by placing them into their specific slots on the 3D island model.
The story is derived from my identity-seeking approach in life and its effects on my design process. As an individualistic person, I was being remonstrative with the deadlock in originality in the post-digital age and I created a story that will explain this situation allegorically. The story touches on our everyday life and future problems like postmodernity, consumerism, commodity, seek of identity, ego, and mimetic theory.
I used varied tools to constitute both design and the installation of the project.
Sound: Garageband
Interaction: Arduino and Processing
Tangible: Laser-cut Cardboard and 3D Printing Visuals: PETSCII Editor, MapMap Projection Mapping, After Effects
Documentation and Mobile App: Figma
