so-fi is a mobile app designed for and with visually impaired and blind people. It is derived from the interviews conducted with visually impaired and blind people/children and our comprehensive research about accessibility with the
contributions of Vestel UI UX team and Izmir Tarih
(Izmir Municipality History) Project.
Children learn by playing. Visually impaired and blind children like to touch and hear more than others during play. so-fi enriches the usual play
experience by converting textures and materials into sound recordings. Discoverable items and the historical buildings in new sound universes guide
children to explore cultural areas.
so-fi is a hand-shaped alien who wants to explore and touch all the planets and textures, it is so excited and reacts to what it touches in a sarcastic way.
so-fi talks all the time with its genderless voice, leading visually impaired and blind people to touch and make sound from textures.
